Business Profile | By Dr. Gideon Logan, Emergency Medical Director, HCA Florida West Orange Emergency
In an emergency, minutes matter. Windermere residents and visitors now have convenient access to a state-of-the-art emergency room in nearby Winter Garden, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to treat everything from heart attacks to minor injuries.
HCA Florida West Orange Emergency is a freestanding emergency room that opened in August 2025 at 1320 Daniels Rd., Winter Garden. Designed to serve the growing West Orange community, the facility expands access to high-quality emergency care close to home.
“We are excited to provide emergency care close to where we live and work for our neighbors in West Orange County,” said Dr. Gideon Logan, site emergency medical director. “HCA Florida West Orange Emergency offers quick and easy access to emergency medical help around the clock, provided by our board-certified physicians and emergency medical team.”
Emergency care close to home
The facility provides emergency services for adults and children every day of the year. Staffed by experienced physicians and nurses, the team treats a wide range of emergency conditions, including serious infections, chest pain, traumatic injuries, and broken bones.
“It is often much quicker for a patient to reach the closest freestanding emergency room than to drive across town through traffic to a hospital,” Dr. Logan said. “For a local family, having emergency services available nearby can be lifesaving and provides peace of mind.”
To support rapid diagnosis and treatment, the facility includes 10 private treatment rooms, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation room, advanced CT, ultrasound and X-ray imaging, and an on-site laboratory. These resources allow the medical team to evaluate patients quickly and begin treatment without delay.
Backed by a larger network
Patients also benefit from HCA Florida Healthcare's resources, which include multiple hospitals and freestanding emergency rooms across Central Florida. This network ensures that patients who require hospital admission can be stabilized and safely transported.
“Many of our patients can be treated and return home the same day,” Dr. Logan explained. “Patients with serious or critical conditions who need inpatient care are stabilized here and transported with full medical support to our hospital or their hospital of choice.”
Dr. Logan recalled a young man in his 20s who arrived with a sudden, rapid, irregular heartbeat. Because the patient remembered seeing the facility, he came in immediately. He was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia, a treatable condition, his heart rhythm was restored to normal, and he was referred to a cardiologist for follow-up care.
Emergency care vs. urgent care
Freestanding emergency rooms are designed to treat potentially life-threatening conditions such as chest pain, heavy bleeding, severe abdominal pain, head injuries with loss of consciousness, and stroke symptoms. When serious injury or illness requires immediate attention, these facilities are equipped to respond without delay. If you believe you or a loved one is experiencing a life-threatening emergency, always call 911.
For less serious illnesses, such as cold symptoms or minor cuts and bruises, urgent care centers like HCA Florida Healthcare’s MD Now may be appropriate. If you are unsure about the severity of an illness or injury, HCA Healthcare offers a free 24/7 Consult-A-Nurse line at 844-70-NURSE (6-8773), for anyone to speak with a registered nurse for guidance.
