Seeds of Leadership: Perspective

From the Desk of Chief Ogden | By Chief David A. Ogden

Windermere Police Chief David A. Ogden

I came across this thought recently:

We always want what we don’t have: until we realize what we had was enough.

The married want divorce; the unmarried want love.

The young rush to grow up; the old want more time.

The unknown crave fame; the famous crave privacy.

The one who walks daily wants rest; the disabled would give anything to stand.

Never take anything for granted.

If you are hurting…

If you are lonely…

If you feel like you can’t go another step…

Get up.

And serve someone else.

Not because it minimizes your pain.

But because it recalibrates your soul.

Gratitude grows when we stop staring at what we’ve lost and start recognizing what we still have.

And sometimes, leadership begins not in commanding, but in carrying someone else’s burden.

Regards,
David A. Ogden
