With April, spring is in full bloom and your Orange County Library System welcomes you to experience a wide variety of activities and events to enhance your personal growth. What better place than your local library to discover new authors and learn fascinating facts about your own backyard with a little help from interesting experts?

Windermere Branch begins the month with a Plant Clinic Tuesday, April 1, at 10:30 a.m. Master Gardener Volunteers from the UF/IFAS Orange County Extension Office will be on hand to answer your gardening questions so bring your plants and cuttings and ask questions.

Combine your love of books and plants with a virtual author talk at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. Smithsonian Horticulturalist Matthew Fleming is your guide through the secret world of trees revealed in his beautiful and absorbing guide to the giants of the plant world—The Tree Book: The Stories, Science, and History of Trees. From ancient oaks and great redwoods to lush banyans and imposing kapoks, The Tree Book reveals the anatomy, behaviors, and beauty of these incredible plants and habitats in detail. Register for this fascinating discussion at ocls.org.

On Friday, April 11, join us right down the road for the 18th Annual Southwest Author Series, presented in partnership with the Rotary Club of Dr. Phillips. Bestselling and award-winning author Victoria Christopher Murray will talk about her newest book, Harlem Rhapsody. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for this free event, the author presentation begins at 7 p.m. and a book sale and signing will follow. It’s sure to be a great evening and you can learn more and register at ocls.org/southwestauthorseries.

Come back to Windermere Branch and celebrate Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22, at 3 p.m. You can plant a seed in honor of the environment and learn more about our planet through educational activities and fellowship.

Your local library branch is a perfect space to develop a budding interest or just settle in with your favorite read. We have a lot to offer for all ages, and you can learn more at ocls.org.
