The Early Years: A Calling from the Start
Caitlin Caggiano's journey is a testament to the power of faith, perseverance, and the beauty of following one's calling, even when the road takes unexpected turns. Caitlin and her twin sister, Courtney’s, love for music was sparked at an early age, beginning with piano lessons at five. While Courtney continued on the piano, Caitlin felt drawn to a different instrument. At eleven, she took her first guitar lesson, and with youthful certainty, she told her parents, “This is going to be my life.” From that moment, everything revolved around music.
Her family may not have been musically inclined, but they always supported her passion. Caitlin’s love for guitar playing is divinely inspired; her natural talent is undeniable. By the time she was 15, she had already begun teaching lessons. Often seen walking through Keene’s Pointe with her guitar strapped to her back, she was eager to share her knowledge with students even then.
The Road to Nashville—and Back Again
After graduating from The First Academy in 2009, Caitlin briefly attended the University of Central Florida. While she enjoyed math and even considered a career in teaching it, music continued to call her. So, she packed her bags and moved to Nashville, the beating heart of the music industry.
She spent three years in Nashville, working as a session musician, playing shows, and even touring. Her band had promising prospects—they were in talks to appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, play major festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, and secure a record deal. Then, at just 21 years old, she experienced a crushing disappointment. The label wanted a single female lead and cut her from the band.
Heartbroken and disillusioned, she returned home, vowing never to pursue music again—at least, not in the way she had before. In a moment of deep spiritual surrender, she laid her guitar on the floor, prayed, and promised that from that day forward, she would only play music for God.
Rebuilding Through Faith and Hard Work
Still reeling from the betrayal, she considered pursuing a degree in mathematics or engineering. Surprisingly, it was her father, an attorney, who encouraged her to study guitar. He saw something in her that she hadn't yet recognized in herself. So, at 22, far older than most of her classmates, she enrolled in UCF’s classical guitar program, despite being unable to read music at the time. Determined to succeed, Caitlin dedicated herself to eight to ten hours of daily practice, sometimes needing arthritis cream for her hands. Within a year and a half, she had become the top string player at the university. She describes music as "math with emotions," blending formulas and feeling into something divine. By the time she graduated, she had mastered her instrument and developed a deep appreciation for its history and technique.
As the first female to graduate with that degree, a milestone that led to a teaching career she never anticipated, her rigorous work ethic and devotion to mastering her craft had set her apart.
The Pandemic Pivot: Teaching the World from Home
Then came COVID. With live performances and in-person lessons shut down, she pivoted to online teaching. She started posting free guitar lessons online, assuming it was just a temporary way to stay connected with students. But something incredible happened—her online teaching business exploded. Within a year, she had hundreds of private students worldwide, from the United States to Europe, Asia, and even six continents (Antarctica remains elusive).
By 2021, she had saved enough to buy her first home on Main Street, just a few doors down from Courtney and her family, fulfilling a dream she had spoken into existence years earlier. As a young woman driving to UCF, she used to sit in traffic and say, “One day, I’ll own a house here.” That day had come, and she credited it entirely to her faith and relentless dedication. Caitlin built a career that allowed her to work from home, making a living entirely from teaching guitar.
As her student base continued to grow, Caitlin began envisioning something more permanent, a way to reach students everywhere without losing the personal connection she valued most. That idea became Caitlin’s Guitar Academy.
Caitlin’s Guitar Academy: A Vision That Keeps Growing
Launched in early 2025 through caitlinsguitaracademy.com, the academy gives students access to structured video lessons, monthly live masterclasses, and a private coaching community. Her goal for that first launch was modest: ten members. By the end of the week, nearly two hundred had joined. “It still amazes me,” she says. “God’s hand was all over it.”
The academy now serves a broad range of students, complete beginners, dedicated hobbyists, and even touring musicians. The courses are designed so anyone can start from scratch, build technique, and grow with confidence. She repeated the launch in July 2025 with equal success and plans to reopen enrollment in January 2026.
The growth also allowed her to reshape her weekly rhythm. “Now I teach four days a week,” she says. “Next year, I’ll move to three. That’s intentional, I want space for family, for faith, and for the students who really want to grow.”
Her dream is to build a life where she can one day homeschool her children while continuing to inspire others through her lessons. “That’s the beauty of what this has become,” she reflects. “It’s sustainable, it’s personal, and it gives me time to do what matters most.”
The Unexpected Call from Disney
Just when she had settled into her teaching career, another unexpected door opened. In 2023, a Disney producer saw her leading worship at Life Bridge Church and offered her the opportunity to headline a show at Disney. It was an offer she hadn’t chased, but one that found her at exactly the right time.
Unlike the stress-filled performances of her past, this gig was effortless. Everything fell into place—a hand-picked band, a well-structured show, and an overwhelming sense of peace. It was, as she describes, “God-breathed.”
Windermere: The Heart of Her Story
Despite her career taking her across the country and beyond, Windermere has always been home. The town is more than just a picturesque setting; it’s a part of who she is. She takes a sunrise walk with her dog Starlight every morning, soaking in the quiet beauty of the sand roads, the trees, and shimmering lakes. She often finds herself overwhelmed with gratitude, moved to tears by the realization that she gets to live in such a special place.
For Caitlin, Windermere is not just where she lives—it’s where she belongs. While she dreams of one day adding to her home for a growing family, she knows she will never leave. She treasures the magic in this town, a deep-rooted sense of history and community.
The Future: A Legacy of Music and Mentorship
Even as her Disney show takes off, Caitlin remains deeply committed to teaching. Her online presence has grown tremendously, and her approach to teaching is unlike anything else available, incorporating innovative methods that make learning the guitar accessible and meaningful.
Beyond technique, Caitlin sees music as a spiritual experience. She believes it is a language given by God to connect with people on a deeper level. She has seen her students improve their playing and transform their lives—gaining confidence, overcoming depression, and even strengthening their faith. One student, who started as a Buddhist, told her he was beginning to see Christ in a new way. Another, a well-known hairstylist in Los Angeles, shared that Caitlin’s teachings had given him clarity and purpose.
Her insights into music’s divine order have garnered attention from major publications like Premier Guitar and Guitar World. She has developed unique methods of teaching that cannot be found through AI or Google searches, solidifying her as a thought leader in the field. Her influence continues to grow, and she remains committed to her belief that music should point back to God.
Today, in addition to teaching, she travels across the country leading master classes and speaking at conferences, all while maintaining her presence at Disney and in her church.
Her mission is clear: to teach music the way it was meant to be taught—with structure, intention, and reverence. In an era where artificial intelligence threatens creativity, she has developed new learning methods that a machine cannot replicate. She’s not just teaching chords and scales; she’s instilling confidence, purpose, and spiritual renewal in her students.
Her faith remains the foundation of everything she does. As she puts it, “Music is a language that God created so that even those who do not believe in Him can feel His love.”
Caitlin’s journey from Windermere to Nashville, from heartbreak to triumph, from teaching in her parents' neighborhood to leading master classes worldwide, is a testament to the power of hard work, faith, and never giving up on your dreams.
But more than anything, it’s about home. And for Caitlin, Windermere will always be at the heart of her story, no matter where life takes her.
