There’s so much in store this May at your library! Registration is open now for Summer At Your Library — fun, free events and programs for all ages June 1 through July 27. From art to animals, science to music, we offer a lot of opportunities for learning and exploration. Adults and kids can also participate in our Summer Reading Challenge and enter to win some fun prizes by logging reading minutes on our reading tracker or in the Beanstack app. Visit ocls.org/summer for all the information and to register for the fun.

Windermere Branch has a bounty of healthful activities for all ages May 12 to 17 during “May Your Health Be With You Week.” The week starts out with “Homeschool Cuisine Corner Junior: Healthy Snacks” on Monday at 11 a.m. Kids will learn to make delicious anytime snacks and taste a few samples; spots fill up fast so register soon! Adults can learn the proper way to measure and monitor blood pressure during the Blood Pressure Monitor Checkout Program Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

On Tuesday at 11 a.m., registered adults can attend a focused workshop, “All About Medicare.” Participants will learn about eligibility criteria, coverage options available to beneficiaries, the enrollment process and key differences between Medicare Parts A, B, C and D.

On Wednesday, give back and give life during the “Blood Drive with OneBlood” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All ages can enjoy light exercises from the traditions of “Tai Chi Chuan” Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

The week ends with bike-themed fun and events! Stop by from 10 a.m. to noon to check out the Book Bike – our fun, mobile library – and meet our outreach specialists. Early learners aged three to five can bring their bike or trike and helmet to a bike-themed storytime and short group ride at “StoryBike” Saturday at 10:30 a.m. There are lots more great activities happening for all ages; find events and register to attend at ocls.org.

If you don’t have a library card, stop by the branch or visit our website to sign up for one. It’s quick, easy and free for residents of Orange County. The value, experiences and sense of community that come with it are invaluable. I hope you will find a connection with one of our resources in-person or online this month.
