If you grew up in Windermere, you understand the magic of this place, the shaded paths, glassy lakes, and the peacefulness that comes from being surrounded by nature. That’s exactly the kind of inspiration Mickey McClain carries into his work every day.

Mickey is a Windermere native who spent his childhood climbing trees, exploring the woods, and soaking in everything this small town has to offer. Today, he channels that love of nature into The Plantologist, a company he founded that creates custom moss walls for homes and businesses.

Made with real preserved moss, these living art pieces need no water, sunlight, or upkeep. They’re sculptural, calming, and incredibly unique. Whether it’s a statement piece in a home or a conversation-starter in a restaurant lobby, each wall is thoughtfully designed to reflect the vibe of the space—and the people in it.

Mickey’s background in set design and fabrication adds a creative edge to every project. He’s built moss walls across the country, but says there’s something especially meaningful about installing them right here in his hometown. And once you see the work, you’ll understand why his pieces are often the most talked-about feature in a room.

In a fast-paced world, these walls offer something different: a way to bring the outdoors in, effortlessly. They’re peaceful. Personal. And they remind us that nature still has a place in our everyday lives, even on the wall of a conference room or living room.
